Long-time Flickering Myth contributor Shaun Munro here! In the summer of 2023, I shot my first short film – a horror-comedy called Breakfast, about a man attempting to make his breakfast while being terrorised by a ghost.
I made the film in my own home on a shoestring budget with just one other crew member (my wife!), before bringing aboard a fantastically talented composer, Filip Sobon, in post-production.
I assumed that my weird experiment would go straight to YouTube, but to my surprise Breakfast ended up playing at 14 genre film festivals over the course of a year, including London FrightFest, Popcorn Frights, San Francisco’s Another Hole in the Head, and most recently Romford Horror Festival.
With a wonderful and totally unexpected festival run completed, I’ve now released Breakfast on YouTube where it’ll live forever more. And so without any further ado, I present my film below:
Thanks so much for checking my film out, and I’d love to hear what you think of it whether on YouTube, the film’s Letterboxd page, Twitter, or Instagram.
I’d also like to thank our editor-in-chief Gary Collinson for allowing me this platform to discuss and promote my work.
