The cast for the adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons has grown once again as Deadline reports that Hugh Grant (The Undoing) and Sophia Lillis (It) are set to star in the film.
Grant will reportedly star as the film’s villain while Lillis’ role is unknown. The pair join Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984), Michelle Rodriguez (F9: The Fast Saga) and Justice Smith (Pokemon: Detective Pikachu) in the film.
The new adaptation of the popular role-playing game comes from Paramount Pictures and Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Game Night) are directing from a script by Michael Gilio (Kwik Stop).
Dungeons & Dragons has remained a popular fantasy role-playing game for over 40 years. The fantasy role-playing game was previously adapted for the big screen by New Line Cinema in 2000, and while the film proved to be a critical and commercial disaster, it did spawn a made for TV sequel in 2005 and a straight-to-video third instalment in 2011. Warner Bros. attempted to get a big-budget reboot off the ground in 2015, with the project subsequently moving to Paramount in late 2017.
Dungeons & Dragons is currently slated for release on May 27th, 2022.
