It looks like Michael Mann’s long-gestating Enzo Ferrari biopic could be back on track, with Deadline reporting that Hugh Jackman is in talks to star as the legendary carmaker, and Noomi Rapace is also in negotiations to portray his wife Linda. Christian Bale was previously attached to the title role, but dropped out due to health concerns over the necessary weight gain for the role.
Ferrrari is based upon Brock Yates’ book Enzo Ferrari, The Man, The Cars, The Races, and will take place in 1957, “a year where passion, failure, success and death and life all collided in Ferrari’s battle for supremacy against rival Maserati.”
Mann first began developing the project almost 17 years ago, originally working with the late director Sydney Pollack. Production was originally planned for the spring of last year before Bale’s departure, although it is now reportedly moving forward to shoot in the summer of 2018.
