Based on the fact that Bryan Singer has decided to add Quicksilver to the line-up of X-Men: Days of Future Past after Joss Whedon announced he was to use the character for The Avengers 2, it seems unlikely that we’ll be seeing any collaborations between 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios in the near future. However, that hasn’t stopped Hugh Jackman from expressing his hope that the two Marvel universes could come together on the big screen for an X-Men / Avengers crossover movie.
“You know, obviously we have people from—one of the great things about this movie is that a lot of people from Marvel are here and it seems a lot more inclusive than it has been in the past,” Jackman tells Screen Rant. “I don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes, but I think it’s fantastic. I actually just asked the other day, I said, ‘I don’t know what the legal situation is, but why don’t [Fox and Marvel Studios] come together? Why isn’t it possible?’ Because personally, I would love to mix it up with Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man and kick his ass. It’d be great. (laughs) There you go. There’s your quote. (Laughs).”
As much as an Avengers vs. X-Men movie would be a sure-fire hit, it certainly looks beyond the realms of possibility. But hey, if they need a way in, there’s always Quicksilver…
Hugh Jackman will be back on screens this July for his sixth outing as Logan in The Wolverine, before starring in next year’s mutant ensemble X-Men: Days of Future Past alongside the likes of Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Halle Berry (Storm), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Shawn Ashmore (Iceman), Daniel Cudmore (Colossus), Fan Bingbing (Blink), Booboo Stewart (Warpath), Omar Sy (Bishop) and Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, who will portray the primary antagonist, thought to be Bolivar Trask, designer of the Sentinels.
