Golden Globe winning and Emmy nominated actor Hugh Laurie has joined the cast of Veep.
Laurie made it big on US television playing Dr Gregory House in House and is now making a return to television after taking a break with two blues albums. Laurie was spotted on the set of Veep which is currently shooting for season 4 in Baltimore, before HBO confirmed that he would be starring in the latest season.
The HBO comedy follows Selina Meyer played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus as she becomes Vice President. When viewers last saw Meyer, she had ascended from vice president to president after her POTUS stepped down to attend his wife’s mental state following a suicide attempt. The character was already in the process of running for president.
Hugh Laurie’s role is being kept under wraps but according to sources he is a series regular rather than just guesting in a single episode.
Season 4 of Veep airs April 2015.
