Broken Mirror Games and Skybound Entertainment have announced I Hate This Place, a new open-world survival horror game inspired by Skybound’s comic book series of the same name created by writer Kyle Starks and artist Artyom Topilin. This upcoming title is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch towards the end of the 2025. A new teaser trailer was released at this year’s Future Game Show and can be seen below….
I Hate This Place is an isometric survival horror where players take the role of Elena, a young woman who mistakenly awakens a malevolent force that will do anything it can to see Elena dead. Being outmatched and hunted by this force, players will need to think fast and manipulate their environment if they are to survive.
As Elena, players will need to engage in melee and ranged combat, craft essential tools for survival and use ingenuity over brute force. With a day and night cycle that impacts the gameplay dynamics, it is essential for players to reach safehouses before the night arrives. Above all, ensure Elena avoids the Horned Man.
I Hate This Place features a retro ‘80s comic book aesthetic, with bold, vivid colours. Every location that players will visit has been created to tell its own story through visuals that blur reality and the nightmarish world that Elena finds herself in.
Kyle Starks, Writer of the I Hate This Place comic series, said: “I love my book I Hate This Place – a labour of horror love with series co-creator and artist Artyom Topiln – so needless to say I’m thrilled to see someone bring it to life in video game form! I can’t wait to get my hands on this game and be trapped on the terrible ranch the book inhabits!”
Look out for more news on I Hate This Place arriving in the future.
