Just yesterday it was revealed that FOX is developing a U.S. remake of Luther, and now it has been announced that Idris Elba will be reprising the role of DCI John Luther for two specials of the U.K. version of the hit detective drama, which are set to air next year on the BBC.
“Ever since we said goodbye to John Luther on Southwark Bridge, there’s hardly been a minute when I didn’t wonder what happened next,” said creator Neil Cross, who is also producing the U.S. remake alongside Elba. “So I decided to find out. We’re putting the band back together; Luther is coming back where he belongs. Back to the BBC. Back to London. And back to work.”
The two specials will begin production in March.
