Idris Elba has revealed that he would like to play the character of Heimdall once again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Having played the character Heimdall numerous times before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – most recently in Avengers: Infinity War , where he fell victim to Thanos – you might think Idris Elba would be happy to move on from the role.
It seems this isn’t the case, however, as when asked by KTSA if he would be open to returning to the part in the future, the actor was very positive about doing so:
“Listen, Heimdall is essentially part of the god family. So you know, he essentially could be alive. I’m just saying! I’m just putting it out there! The Heimdall character goes way back into, you know, the Thor mythology… And I’m sure there will be an interesting way to bring that alive. Of course I would. Yes.”

With the MCU showing no signs of slowing down and even more Marvel content coming to Disney+ (including the Loki series, which takes place in an alternate universe), one suspects there may still be plenty of opportunities to see Heimdall once again. Before then, however, Elba will be popping up in the DC Extended Universe, having signed on to star in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
