After reviving the Halloween franchise last year, Blumhouse Production is now turning its attention to another classic 70s slasher, with The Wrap reporting that Imogen Poots is set to headline a remake of 1974’s Black Christmas. Here’s a teaser poster for the upcoming film…
One of the earliest entries in the slasher genre, the original Black Christmas was directed by Bob Clark and revolved around a group of sorority sisters who find themselves stalked by a deranged serial killer during the festive season. The cast included Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, Andrea Martin and John Saxon. A poorly-received remake was released in 2006, with Katie Cassidy, Michelle Trachtenberg, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Oliver Hudson and Lacey Chabert starring.
Blumhouse’s Black Christmas is being directed by Sophia Takal (Into the Dark) and will see Poots starring alongside Aleyse Shannon, Brittany O’Grady, Lily Donoghue and Caleb Eberhardt. Fittingly, it will arrive just in time for the holidays, with Universal setting a December 13th 2019 release.
