Infected Shelter leaves Early Access for a full release

November 12, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Indie developer Dark Blue Games has announced that their post-apocalyptic rogue-lite shooter/brawler RPG Infected Shelter is now available on Steam.  After a successful period in Early Access players can battle their way through randomly generated areas in a light-hearted zombie slaying adventure.  Check out the game’s new release trailer below for a glimpse at the gameplay.

Billed as a cross between Dead Cells and Castle Crashers, Infected Shelter drops players into the shoes of a survivor who wakes one morning to find their sanctuary has been raided and the group members kidnapped. It will be up to players to set out into the harsh apocalyptic wasteland to seek out the kidnappers and discover what happened to his community. As players travel through the post-apocalypse world they will encounter hideous, infected creatures and enemy factions run by brutal bosses.

To survive in the wastes, players will need to use shoot and hack and slash their way through these enemy territories, though there will be the opportunity to unlock a variety of firearms, melee weapons, clothes, skills and relics to help kill the enemy.

Infected Shelter features:

  • Randomly generated post-apocalyptic environments to fight through.
  • Fast paced, violent (yet light-hearted) 2D brawler combat with lots of firearms and melee weapons.
  • Rogue-lite / rouge-like elements.
  • Permanent upgrades that change how the game is played in following attempts.
  • More than 170 blueprints to unlock new weapons, clothes, skills, relics and character improvements.
  • 50+ brutal violent executions.
  • 50+ character traits.
  • 4 different playable characters.
  • Tons of items, including guitars, wheelchairs, pets, drinks, active items.
  • Over 200 areas and shelter rooms.
  • Choose to go it alone in a full single player experience or enjoy with up to 4 friends in local co-op.

Infected Shelter is available now on Steam with a 10% discount valid until 18th November.  Mac and Linux users will be able to survive later this year and console gamers will be able to fight their way through the apocalypse in early 2020.
