It may have been demoted from a big screen blockbuster to a small screen TV show, but Marvel’s Inhumans has had a strong showing in its IMAX release. According to Boxofficemojo, Inhumans brought in around $2.6 million worldwide – pretty good considering the season four finale of Game of Thrones made $1.4 million, it’s has zero promotion and dreadful reviews. Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson has thrown shade on male writers in Hollywood – calling them dumb in the way they portray female characters – and praised Taiki Waitii for deviating away from the comic book version of Valkyrie. “Obviously, it’s still a superhero movie and so you’ve got to figure out when you need to stand with your hands on your hips and what makes sense,” she told The L.A. Times. “But we wanted to create a character that occupied her own iconography. There’s one word I hate in all scripts in Hollywood at the moment in describing women, and that is the word “badass.” That word has just crept into every script that is pushed around this town now. It’s terrible, because it doesn’t mean anything. It’s a dumb male writer’s way of saying, ‘Ah, uh, she’s like, she, uh, she’s tough.’ Then straight after that it’s like, ‘She’s badass, but she’s got a beauty about her. And she’s sexy. Former Doctor Who star Matt Smith has revealed he would like to follow fellow ex-Doctors David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston by joining the MCU. “I’d love to. Following the news that Michael K. Williams had exited the Han Solo movie due to scheduling conflicts, director Ron Howard revealed that Paul Bettany had stepped into the fray. Although it’s not official that he’s replacing Williams, Slashfilm are saying that this is the case. Read more here.
After a string of bad news – including writer/director Joe Carnahan leaving the project and several release date push backs – it looks like Bad Boys 4 Life is still in development. “We’ve been developing it for I don’t know how many years now and we had a period of time where it got pretty close and then it drifted away a little bit and hopefully it will drift back again,” producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Yahoo! Movies. “We have a new writer on it who’s working on it right now, so that gives me encouragement.” Read more here.
