Could we see another venture into the Scranton paper business?
Puck News reports that Greg Daniels will look to bring back The Office in some capacity for NBC. The studio greenlit a reboot in June, but the WGA strikes paused any development on the series.
Details aren’t known yet, but the idea for a complete reboot or a revival featuring some of the iconic characters has been looked at.
The Puck News report also notes that there’s no set plan for the project to be a Peacock streaming exclusive or if The Office can regain its position on NBC’s primetime. The show gained even more popularity in recent years, with streaming becoming the next wave in The Office‘s legacy.
The Office originally aired in the UK from 2001 to 2003, starring Ricky Gervais, and then the American version with Steve Carrell premiered on NBC from 2005 to 2013. It would continue to succeed, going from cult classic to mega-hit, and the series won five Emmys, including the Outstanding Comedy Series trophy in 2006.
If you’re craving anything related to The Office right now, an Australian version of the series, starring Felicity Ward in the lead role, is on the way.
