The director of It is attached to an in-development Dracula prequel movie.
Being developed over at Paramount, the story is a prequel to Bram Stoker’s Dracula which has been written by Dacre Stoker and J.D. Barker. Paramount won an auction for the prequel.
It director Andy Muschietti is currently attached to direct and with his star only rising with the much anticipated release of the new Stephen King adaptation, this could turn into a lucrative deal for all parties involved.
Variety describes the story as: “set in 1868, where a 21-year-old Bram Stoker meets with an evil that he traps in an ancient tower.”
Bram Stoker’s Dracula was released 1897 and has gone on to become a hugely influential work in the horror genre. The novel follows the exploits of attorney Jonathan Harker who visits with Dracula in the Carpathian Mountains. Dracula attempts to move to England aboard a Russian ship in search of new blood.
Muschietti’s It is set for release this weekend. Read our review here.
