It looks like there’s been a shakeup behind the camera on Hulu’s upcoming adaptation of the Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez comic book series Locke & Key, with Deadline reporting that Andy Muschietti (Mama, It) has replaced Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Doctor Strange) as director on the pilot. Derrickson has been forced to drop out due to a scheduling conflict with another pilot, TNT’s Snowpiercer.
Locke & Key is based on the IDW Publishing comic book and “revolves around three siblings who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Maine only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys and will stop at nothing to attain them.”
Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) is serving as showrunner on Locke & Key, and has developed the adaptation with Hill, who penned the script. The comic had previously been adapted for TV in 2010, although that pilot failed to make it to series and was unaired save for a screening at Comic-Con in 2011.
