Despite the fact that The Cloverfield Paradox was pulled from its theatrical release and sent straight to Netflix (reportedly, because Paramount felt it was “unsalvageable”), it seems the studio isn’t ready to give up on J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot’s Cloverfield anthology series just yet.
A fourth movie – Overlord – is already in the can, and rumours are suggesting that the Daisy Ridley-headlined Kolma is being lined up as the fifth entry in the series. Of course, that may be dependent on how the fourth instalment is received by audiences, but according to producer Abrams, we’re in for a crazy ride.
“Overlord… first of all, it’s something that I can’t wait for you to see ’cause the director, Julius Avery, has done an amazing job on it,” Abrams told Digital Spy. “But the specifics, you know, we should wait and see. But that’s really a crazy movie.”

Although details on Overlord are being kept tightly under wraps, we do have the following synopsis:
On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.
Overlord is directed by Julius Avery (Son of a Gun) and features a cast that includes Jovan Adepo (Fences), Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street), Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), Dominic Applewhite (The King’s Speech), Pilou Asbaek (Ghost in the Shell), Iain de Caestecker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), John Magaro (The Big Short), Mathilde Ollivier (The Misfortunes of Francois Jane) and Bokeem Woodbine (Spider-Man: Homecoming).
