The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that martial arts superstar Jackie Chan is set to receive an Honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards on November 12th.
Chan will be honoured alongside Oscar-winning film editor Anne V. Coates (Lawrence of Arabia), casting director Lynn Stalmaster (The Graduate) and documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman (Titicut Follies).
“The Honorary Award was created for artists like Jackie Chan, Anne Coates, Lynn Stalmaster and Frederick Wiseman — true pioneers and legends in their crafts,” said Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs. “The board is proud to honor their extraordinary achievements, and we look forward to celebrating with them at the Governors Awards in November.”
Honorary Oscars are granted by the Academy each year to recognise lifetime achievements and exceptional contributions to the world of motion pictures.
