Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif possibly confirmed for Thor: Ragnarok, Karl Urban talks Skurge role and his “pact with the devil”

August 11, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif has been entirely absent from the marketing for Thor: Ragnarok, leading fans to assume that the Asgardian warrior has gone the way of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, and won’t be appearing in the God of Thunder’s third solo outing.

Back in May, Alexander teased that Sif could feature in the movie after all, responding to a rumour that her commitments to Blindspot prevented her from reprising the role, and now it seems her involvement may have been confirmed during a recent appearance on Talking with Chris Hardwick, where she was introduced as “Jaimie Alexander from Thor: Ragnarok“.

Of course, this isn’t official confirmation, but don’t be surprised if we do get to see Lady Sif back in action come November…

Meanwhile, appearing at Star Trek Las Vegas (via TrekMovie), Karl Urban has briefly spoken about his role as Skurge, and the deal he makes with Cate Blanchett’s villain, Hela:

“My character is operating the Bifrost device and suddenly Cate Blanchett walks through the Bifrost and I very astutely realized I either joined her or die.  So my character is a survivalist. The journey of Scourge is really ‘OK, now you made a pact with the devil and it comes with a price.’ That price is constantly upped through the movie and that is his journey.”

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk.

Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) and features Marvel veterans Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk alongside Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge, Taika Waititi as Korg, Clancy Brown as Surtur and Sam Neill and Rachel House in as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on October 27th in the UK and November 3rd in the States.
