We all know James Gunn is about to head over the run DC Studios following the third Guardians of the Galaxy coming next year. And now the filmmaker is offering even more details about his plans.
During a Twitter Q&A promotion for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special [read our review here], fans wanted Gunn to dive into DC Studios and what he plans to do with co-chair Peter Safran.
A fan asked if Gunn will craft shows for established live-action DC protagonists. He notes, “The DCU will be connected across film and TV (and animation).” He notes that the animation will also be a mix of 2D and 3D projects.
Will these movies, shows, and other projects strictly follow a tight timeline like the MCU? He notes that “yes, some” will be, but will still give room for projects like HBO Max’s Harley Quinn or the Todd Phillips’ Joker films.
Gunn also notes that while he will be the head of the creative side of DC Studios, he won’t be stepping away from the director’s chair. He says during the Q&A that he’d continue to write and direct “select DC projects” in the future, which hints at more of Gunn’s Peacemaker on HBO Max.
Gunn and Safran are currently working on a “DC Bible,” which will serve as the outline for the future of DC Studios.
