James Gunn has revealed how long it took him to write Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for Marvel Studios.
The movie-making process is a long one, especially when you take it all the way back to the scripting stage. One of the most anticipated films for many MCU fans is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but how long did it take James Gunn to write?
Well, when discussing the start of production of The Suicide Squad on Twitter, Gunn responded to a fan who asked about long that film took to write, dropping an interesting nugget about Guardians in the process: “This one was short! A few months. Guardians Vol. 3 took a year, The Specials took a week and Super took maybe three weeks. It’s always different.”
It sounds like Guardians Vol. 3 was quite a tough nut to crack, and it also makes you think about how frustrating it must have been when Gunn was temporarily sidelined from directing his script that took 12 months to write. Gunn has however since returned to the director’s chair, although he won’t start working on the next Guardians movie until he completes post-production on The Suicide Squad, which isn’t scheduled for release until August 6th 2021.
