Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has clarified the timeline for when Adam Warlock will make his MCU debut.
The character of Adam Warlock has been teased for a while now, starting back in Guardians of the Galaxy, and most recently in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2.
He is certainly at the forefront of many a fans mind when it comes to who they want to see appear next in the MCU. But it doesn’t look like it will necessarily happen as quickly as everyone expects.
James Gunn, director of the Guardians franchise and steward of Marvel’s cosmic future, responded on Twitter to a fan who asked if Tom Cruise could play Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Gunn responded with the below tweet:
https://twitter.com/JamesGunn/status/900377859830591490?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fcomicbook.com%2Fmarvel%2F2017%2F08%2F24%2Fjames-gunn-adam-warlock-mcu-debut%2F
And while Gunn’s analysis on Cruise and Warlock is accurate, we still don’t know for sure if Warlock will be appearing in Vol. 3. Gunn won’t of course want to give such things away at such an early stage but perhaps this is a signal that the character could pop up somewhere else instead (although it’s already been said that he won’t feature in Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers 4).
