As we near the new DC Studios era, the first productions in the Gods and Monsters Chapter begin to take shape.
One of the headliners of this new DCU and the film kicking it all off will be Superman: Legacy, written and directed by James Gunn. The filmmaker has shared with fans that production has begun, entering the pre-production stage.
In a new tweet, Gunn shares, “I’m honored to be a part of the legacy,” adding, “And what better day than Superman Anniversary Day to dive fully into early pre-production on Superman: Legacy? Costumes, production design, and more now up and running.”

The official synopsis states Superman: Legacy “tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
At the time of reporting, there’s still no news on who will play this version of Clark Kent/Superman.
Superman: Legacy is scheduled to open in theaters on July 11, 2025.
