With all the delays in Hollywood, many wondered if James Gunn could still get his epic DC Studios relaunch done in time. Fear not, Man of Steel fans, as Gunn has now confirmed Superman: Legacy will still be released in July 2025.
Gunn took to social media and promised he’d make the release date, stating: “Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest strikes in Hollywood history and who never let their foot off the pedal, continuing to barrel forward, creating the most amazing character and set designs I’ve seen in my entire career, #SupermanLegacy will be making the originally planned release date of July 11, 2025.”

Helmed by James Gunn, Superman: Legacy stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern/Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
The official synopsis states the film “tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman: Legacy will release on July 11th 2025.
