The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that actor James Norton (Rush, War & Peace) is joining the cast of the upcoming remake of 90’s sci-fi thriller Flatliners.
Norton is the latest actor to join the cast after Bad Neighbours 2 star Kiersey Clemmons was recently added to the ensemble earlier this month. Both join the already cast Ellen Page (Inception), Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries).
The original film, released in 1990 and directed by Joel Schumacher (Falling Down, Batman Forever), starred Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt and William Baldwin as a group of medical students “who conduct near-death experiments to explore the afterlife to disastrous consequences.”
Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is directing the film with Ben Ripley (Source Code) scripting. Michael Douglas (Ant-Man) is one of the film’s producers.
Flatliners is set for release in 2017.
