Deadline has reported The Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler has been cast as the lead in Hunting Season, a horror film from director Megan Freels Johnston (Rebound). She’ll be starring alongside Deanna Russo (Being Human), Sean Maher (Firefly) and Bruce Davison (Insidious), Paula Graces (Harold & Kumar) and Hilary Barraford (United States of Tara).
Sigler will star as Abby, a street smart social worker who is best friends with Piper, a desperate single woman played by Russo. When Piper goes away for a romantic weekend in a hunting lodge with her dashing new boyfriend James (Maher), things don’t go according to plan. Abby must track down her roommate before it’s too late. However, she isn’t being chased by a psycho killer in the woods but the 1%. Davison plays James’ father, a wealthy “hunter”, whose desires have gone beyond big game.
The film will be produced by Freel Johnston’s Look At Me Films with Barraford also acting as an executive producer. Hunting Season will begin shooting this fall.
