After spending several years trying unsuccessfully to get Clerks III and Mallrats II off the ground, Kevin Smith is now set to make his grand return to the View Askewniverse with Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, a follow-up to 2001’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and the filmmaker has taken to social media to announce that production on the new film is set to get underway this month.
“”I first posted about Jay and Silent Bob Reboot on @instagram 2/9/17,” writes Smith. “It’s been 2 years and 1 week since that post, during which time I almost died. But a week from Monday, we finally start rolling on reboot. Never give up, kids. Even when your heart wants to.”

As previously revealed by Smith, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot will see the duo returning to Hollywood as they attempt to prevent a reboot of the Bluntman and Chronic movie from Strike Back from being made.
So far, only Smith and Jason Mewes are confirmed to star in the movie, but we can presumably expect some official casting announcements in the coming days and weeks.
