The third season of Apple TV+’s dramedy series Shrinking has made its first casting announcement for the upcoming third season. Per Deadline, Jason Segal and Harrison Ford will be joined by Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) in a guest role.
The series follows Jimmy, a therapist dealing with his grief over the death of his wife and decides to tell his patients what he really thinks of them and their problems while Ford is one of his colleagues who has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
Daniels will star as Jimmy’s (Segal) father when he comes to town for a visit. This marks Daniels’ return to comedy in over a decade after starring in dramatic roles for film and TV.
Shrinking has proven to be a hit for Apple TV+, earning several nominations in various award ceremonies for its cast and writing. This past year at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Television Awards Segal, Ford and Jessica Williams were nominated for their roles while Michael Urie won the Critics Choice for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
Shrinking stars Jason Segel as Jimmy, Harrison Ford as Paul, Christa Miller as Liz, Jessica Williams as Gaby, Michael Urie as Brian, Luke Tennie as Sean and Lukita Maxwell as Alice.
Shrinking follows a grieving therapist (played by Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives…including his own.
Shrinking is written and executive produced by Segel, Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein with Lawrence serving as showrunner. Ashley Nicole Black and Bill Posley will serve as executive producers for the third season.
