With Jessica Jones season two arriving earlier this year, Luke Cage season two set to land later this month, and Daredevil season three expected later in the year, it had been expected that we’d have to wait until 2019 to see Finn Jones’ Danny Rand back for the second season of Iron Fist.
Well, it seems that isn’t the case after all, as during a Reddit AMA session, Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb has revealed that the show will be back later this year.
At this point, it’s a little unclear whether that means we have to wait until early 2019 for Daredevil season three, or if Netflix is going to treat us to four seasons of its Marvel shows this year (or perhaps even five with The Punisher season two?).
One series we definitely won’t be seeing again any time soon however is The Defenders, with Loeb ruling out a second season for the foreseeable future at the very least:
“Not in the plans right now, but you never know….We loved Defenders and so did our fans. We’ll see about doing it again — as you can guess it messes with the schedules on other shows – so do you want more Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones or another Defenders?”

As yet, we don’t have an exact premiere date for season two of Iron Fist, but Danny Rand will be back this month when he appears as a guest star in Luke Cage season two.
Iron Fist season 2 sees Finn Jones reprising the role of Danny Rand alongside Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Tom Pelphrey (Ward Meachum), Jessica Stroup (Joy Meachum), Sacha Dhawan (Davos), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple) and Simone Missick (Misty Knight), as well as Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness) in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
