Jeffrey Dean Morgan cast as a government agent in Rampage

April 6, 2017 by Ricky Church

The adaptation for the Rampage video game has just gained another actor: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who currently plays Negan on The Walking Dead, is the latest to join the film’s growing cast. This also means he’ll be reuniting with his Watchmen co-star Malin Akerman, who was cast as Rampage‘s villain a few weeks ago.

Per Deadline, Morgan will play Agent Russell, a government agent working for an organization called OGA, and will have a “serious swagger and attitude”. Akerman, meanwhile, plays the head of a tech company while Dwayne Johnson is the film’s animal-loving hero, setting out to stop a giant gorilla, werewolf and crocodile that Akerman’s character created from destroying cities.

Rampage reunites Dwayne Johnson with his Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and San Andreas director Brad Peyton, and also features Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Malin Akerman (Billions), Marley Shelton (Solace), Jake Lacy (The Office), Breanne Hill (Incarnate), P.J. Byrne (Big Little Lies), Jack Quaid (Vinyl) and Matt Gerald (Daredevil).

Rampage will start filming next month and is set for release on April 20th 2018.
