Some twelve years after the conclusion of Alias, actress Jennifer Garner is set for a return to the small screen, with TV Line reporting that she is set for a leading role in the new HBO comedy series Camping.
Based on the Sky Atlantic series of the same name, Camping is written and executive produced by Girls’ Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner, and sees Garner portraying Kathryn Siddell-Bauers, a controlling L.A. Mom who takes part in a camping trip to celebrate the 45th birthday of her husband Walt, “but when the camping trip gathers Kathryn’s meek sister, holier than thou ex-best friend and a free-spirited tagalong in one place, it becomes a weekend of tested marriages and woman-on-woman crime that won’t soon be forgotten. Plus, bears.”
“We love Jennifer’s restraint and comedic timing, and we can’t wait for the warmth and intelligence she’ll bring to our central character, Kathryn,” said Dunham and Konner. “It’s truly a dream to have her first on our call sheet. Now we just have to write her some stunts.”
Since the end of Alias, Garner has appeared in films such as Dallas Buyers Club, The odd Life of Timothy Green and Miracles From Heaven, as well as lending her voice to Netflix’s animated series Mama Llama.
