THR is reporting that Jennifer Lawrence has signed on to play the jazz age icon Zelda Fitzgerald in a new biopic which is being developed by Inferno helmer Ron Howard.
The biopic – currently titled Zelda – has been written by screenwriter Emma Frost (The White Queen), and tells the story of Fitzgerald, a socialite, novelist and wife of author F. Scott Fitzgerald. According to the site, the film will follow Zelda as efforts to define herself through her art, as well as exploring the question ‘can love exist between creative equals?’
Zelda will reunite Lawrence with producer and former Lionsgate executive Allison Shearmur, who worked with the actress on The Hunger Games, and has since produced the likes of Cinderella and the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Power Rangers.
Lawrence will next be seen alongside Chris Pratt in the sci-fi romance Passengers, which opens in December, and has several projects on her upcoming slate, including Adam McKay’s Bad Blood, Francis Lawrence’s Red Sparrow, and Darren Aronofsky’s as-yet-untitled new film.
