Jharrel Jerome and Jennifer Lopez are unstoppable.
The actors are teaming up for a new biopic, Unstoppable, following athlete Anthony Robles’s heroic story. Jerome will star as the three-time All-American wrestler, and Deadline reports, “Robles will be heavily involved in the project.”
Jharrel Jerome is an Emmy winner for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series for When They See Us; he’s best known for his work in the Oscar-winning film Moonlight and is awaiting the release upcoming Prime Video series I’m a Virgo that just premiered at SXSW [watch the trailer here]. Lopez’s next project is The Mother, which Netflix is releasing on May 12th.
Anthony Robles is a three-time All-American wrestler born with one leg who won a national championship at Arizona State. In his first year, he went 5-8 but remained determined that he could be a champion in the sport one day. At 14, he tried wrestling for the first time, at a mere 90 pounds. By 2019, he broke the Guinness world record for most pull-ups in a minute with 62 reps. He also serves as an inspirational speaker.
This project will serve as the second film from Artists Equity, the Ben Affleck-Matt Damon production company. As Affleck and Lopez are married, the pair will most likely look to expand their film efforts in the next few years. This also marks the second sports-related film for the company, as Artists Equity is also releasing the upcoming Ben Affleck-directed Air [watch the trailer here].
Amazon Studios is in talks to acquire Unstoppable.
