With Tom Cruise’s contractual status now sorted, Mission: Impossible 6 is moving full steam ahead with pre-production ahead of a spring shoot. We know that Tom Cruise will be returning alongside Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie and co-star Rebecca Ferguson, but as yet there’s been no further word on casting.
It is expected that Cruise will once again be joined by the likes of Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner, however Renner has revealed to Collider that he may have to skip a return as William Brandt owing to his commitments to Avengers: Infinity War, which will see him returning as Hawkeye.
“MI6, I’m not sure what’s happening,” said Renner. “I think it’s going to be coming down to…I know that they’re really wanting to get it going, and I haven’t spoken to Tom yet about where it’s at. I know there might be some conflict with schedules, so I’m not sure what’s going to happen. Avengers is gonna eat up a lot of next year. Gladly, but I certainly hope it doesn’t ultimately get in the way of Tom and I and the gang getting back together for that, because I’d love to.”
Mission: Impossible 6 is set to go head-to-head with Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Aquaman on July 28th 2017.
