IndieWire is reporting that Jessica Chastain is teaming up with The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira for an elephant poaching drama based upon the Black Mambas, an all-female group in South Africa who combat poaching.
The as-yet-untitled project has been written by Gurira, and Chastain will produce the film. The two-time Oscar-nominee made her producing debut on 2014’s The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, and has two other projects on the horizon in The Zookeeper’s Wife and comic book adaptation Painkiller Jane.
In addition to her acting work, Gurira is also an award-winning playwright; the poaching drama will mark her first scripted project for the screen.
