This September, director Andy Muschietti takes us back to Derry for a final showdown between the now-adult Losers’ Club and the evil entity It in the follow-up to the smash hit 2017 Stephen King adaptation.
And, according to Jessica Chastain, we can expect things to get very bloody indeed in It: Chapter Two, with the actress – who is taking on the role of Beverly Marsh – claiming that one scene in particular employed more blood on set than any other horror movie.
“I’m going to say something, and I think I’m going to be in trouble, but I’m going to do it,” said Chastain during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. “It might be a spoiler. But in the movie, there’s a scene that someone said on set that it’s the most blood that’s ever been in a horror film in a scene. And I’ll tell you, the next day I was like pulling blood out of my eyeballs.”
Now, that’s certainly a bold claim, and it will be interesting to see if the scene in question turns out to be more bloody than the likes of the The Shining, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Braindead, the Evil Dead and Suspiria remakes, et al. We’ll find out when It: Chapter Two opens on September 6th.
It: Chapter Two picks up 27 years after the first movie and sees Bill Skarsgard reprising his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, with Jessica Chastain (Beverly), James McAvoy (Bill), Bill Hader (Richie), James Ransone (Eddie), Andy Bean (Stanley), Jay Ryan (Ben) and Isaiah Mustafa (Mike) portraying the adult versions of The Losers Club. Young It stars Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff and Chosen Jacobs are also set to reprise their roles from the first movie in flashback sequences.
