Jessica Chastain says she wants to play a Bond villain

October 13, 2015 by Justin Cook

During a recent interview, Jessica Chastain, who stars in both this month’s The Martian, which currently sits at the top of the box office charts, and Crimson Peak, which will hit theaters in just a few days, revealed a career goal of hers that may come as a surprise to some.

For W Magazine’s November issue cover story, the versatile actress said, “One of my goals is to play a villain in a Bond film. People ask me if I want to be a Bond girl, and I say, ‘No, I want to be the villain.’ I’m waiting for that call!”

Chastain has never been one to shy away from a complicated or challenging role, which playing a Bond villain would most likely be. Her performances in such films as The Tree of Life, The Help, Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar and A Most Violent Year proved that she is capable of effectively portraying a wide range of characters, so it may not be too difficult to believe that Chastain could play a strong, menacing and memorable adversary to James Bond.

Whether audience’s will see Chastain as a Bond villain anytime in the near future remains to be seen, but it’s hard to imagine that many moviegoers would object to the idea.
