Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard return for Happy Death Day 2

May 2, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Blumhouse Productions scored another hit last year with its slasher film Happy Death Day, which grossed over $120 million from a budget of just $4.8 million, leading to the announcement that a sequel was being fast-tracked into production.

Well, with filming set to get underway next week, Deadline is reporting that Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard will reprise their roles as Tree Gelbman and Carter Davis in Happy Death Day 2, while new additions to the cast include Suraj Sharma (Homeland) and Sarah Yarkin (American Horror Story).

Happy Death Day follows Rothe’s Tree Gelbman, a college student reliving the day of her murder over and over again who has to discover the identity of her killer and stop her death.

Christopher Landon is once again directing the sequel, which is set to pick up from the first film “in a Back to the Future-like style” and will also answer questions about the original movie’s endless time loop.
