Jim Carrey isn’t giving up on the Sonic franchise just yet. After “Mr. I Don’t Do Sequels” returned for another outing with Sonic The Hedgehog 2, many thought the actor was done as he began to wind down his prolific career.
Now, we’ve learned Carrey is set to return as Dr. Robotnik as with the recent title reveal for Sonic The Hedgehog 3, we got a little taste of Carrey’s excellent villain, as well as a small tease of Shadow The Hedgehog.
The cast for the third entry is also growing, with IGN reporting that Jessica Jones alum Krysten Ritter has joined the film alongside a gaggle of supporting players in Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone
The one significant announcement yet to be revealed is who will voice the villainous Shadow The Hedgehog, who is set to make his full debut in the threequel follow his tease in Sonic 2.

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Idris Elba, and Jim Carrey reprising their roles. Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone also feature in as-yet-undisclosed roles.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set for release on December 20th, 2024.
