As the wildly successful Big Bang Theory prequel Young Sheldon comes to an end, Warner Bros. TV has announced its series finale will see the return of two familiar faces as Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reprise their roles as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler.
Parsons starred as Sheldon throughout The Big Bang Theory’s 12 season run while Bialik joined the series in its third season finale and featured onward. In the original series Sheldon and Amy began a romance that eventually culminated in marriage.
While he has not physically appeared in Young Sheldon, Parsons has narrated the series since its beginning and Bialik even joined him for two episodes. Those appearances revealed Sheldon and Amy have had children, one of whom they named Leonard after Sheldon’s best friend Leonard Hofstadter as well as Sheldon’s Star Trek idol Leonard Nimoy.
Young Sheldon premiered in 2017 and ran with The Big Bang Theory until the original series ended in 2019. It stars Iain Armitage as Sheldon, Zoe Perry as Mary Cooper, Lance Barber as George Cooper Sr., Annie Potts as Connie “Meemaw” Tucker, Montana Jordan as Georgie Cooper Jr. and Raegan Revord as Missy Cooper.
Young Sheldon will air its one-hour season finale on May 16th.
