Deadline is reporting that The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons is set to take on the role of a drag queen in a feature film adaptation of Matthew Lopez’s play The Legend of Georgia McBride.
The film rights to the project have been snapped up by New Regency and Fox 2000, with Lopez set to pen the screenplay and Parsons serving as producer alongside Todd Spiewak of That’s Wonderful Productions.
The Legend of Georgia McBride follows “Casey, a young, broke, expectant father, who is fired from his gig as an Elvis impersonator in a run-down, small town Florida bar. When the bar owner brings in a B-level drag show to replace his act, Casey finds that he has a whole lot to learn about show business — and himself.”
Emmy Award-winner Parsons will take on the role of Miss Tracy Mills, a veteran drag queen who takes Casey under their wing, transforming him from a washed-up Elvis impersonator to a show-stopping drag queen.
