Jodie Comer facing off with rage-infested zombies seems like a match made in cinematic heaven.
We’ll see that unfold as Daniel Richtman reports that Comer is in talks to join Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later, the horror sequel that genre fans have eagerly awaited for years.
If the reports are accurate, she’ll join the recent Best Actor winner at the Academy Awards, Cillian Murphy, in the film. Murphy starred in the first film, 2002’s groundbreaking 28 Days Later, but did not return for the 2007 sequel 28 Weeks Later. Director Danny Boyle did not return for the sequel either, so this is shaping up to be a reunion of the first film but with the spicy addition of the ultra-talented Jodie Comer.
Comer is best known for her work on four seasons of Killing Eve and her roles in the action film Free Guy and the Ridley Scott period drama The Last Duel. She’s set to appear in the 2024 release of The Bikeriders from Jeff Nichols.
While not confirmed, 28 Years Later will have a reported budget of $60 million and will set up a new trilogy of films. Production is set to start in May.
