Joe and Anthony Russo bringing The Warriors to the small screen

July 6, 2016 by Gary Collinson

The Warriors are set to come out to play once more, with Deadline reporting that Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: Civil War) are adapting Walter Hill’s cult 1979 movie as a drama series for Paramount TV and Hulu. The brothers are teaming with writer Frank Baldwin on the series, and will also direct the pilot episode.

Based on Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel, The Warriors takes place in a gang-ridden New York City and follows one gang, The Warriors, who are framed for the death of a charismatic leader looking to broker truce between the various warring factions. With the other gangs out for revenge, the Warriors must fight for survival as they attempt to make it back to their home turf.

The Russos will juggle their responsibilities on The Warriors with their next Marvel project, the two-part Avengers: Infinity War, which will hit in 2018 and 2019.
