Joe and Anthony Russo to produce The Thomas Crown Affair remake with Michael B. Jordan

May 13, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

Joe and Anthony Russo, whose latest film Captain America: Civil War is currently atop the global box office, are keeping themselves busy outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with news that they are to produce the upcoming remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. The new version of the film will see Michael B. Jordan (Creed) taking the lead as well as well as producing the film alongside the Russos.

First made in 1968, the original starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway with McQueen playing the titular character, a bank-robber who sets out to pull off the perfect heist until he has to match wits with an insurance investigator who does whatever she can to bring him in. Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo starred in the 1999 remake helmed by John McTiernan (Die Hard).

The new version, which is yet to find a director, will have a “contemporary political resonance”.
