Last month, Time-Warner boss Jeff Bewkes stated that he expect’s Ben Affleck’s Batman solo movie to be “a year and a half out”, although it wasn’t clear from whether than referred to a production start date, or a release.
Given that Ben Affleck had subsequently suggested that “there is no Batman movie happening yet”, Bewkes’ comments appeared to be pointing towards the start of filming, however Joe Manganiello – who is playing Deathstroke in the movie – has now revealed that cameras are set to begin rolling on The Batman early in 2017.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight (via Batman-News), Manganiello was asked how he was doing, and replied: “Great man, just getting ready to go shoot Batman in the spring.”

Should The Batman start production in the spring, then Warner Bros. as-yet-unrevealed October 5th 2018 release date would seem the likely slot for the movie, assuming of course that the studio doesn’t shuffle any releases on its DC slate.
Ben Affleck will next be seen as The Dark Knight in Justice League, which is set for release on November 17th next year, although there have also been rumours that he’ll make a cameo appearance in June’s Wonder Woman.
