John Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn promoted to series regular across all of The CW’s DC shows

July 9, 2016 by Gary Collinson

John Barrowman fans rejoice, as it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of his Malcolm Merlyn on The CW, with the British actor signing a deal to appear as a series regular across all of the network’s Arrowverse shows.

Barrowman’s deal is similar to that signed by Wentworth Miller back in May, and will see him popping up across Arrow, The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. It’s unclear whether Supergirl is included, although it’s expected that the former CBS show will be brought into the same universe as the rest of the Arrowverse.

Malcolm Merlyn featured as a recurring character in the first two seasons of Arrow, before being pushed up to a series regular. Barrowman also reprised the role for a guest appearance on The Flash during the big crossover that served as a launching point for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
