John Cena and Eric André will team together, not in the ring but with a new Netflix comedy.
The streamer is in early development on Little Brother, with David Bernad and Ruben Fleischer attached as producers. A director has yet to be announced.
Little Brother centers on a well-known real estate agent whose meticulously planned life is shaken up when his quirky ‘little brother’ suddenly resurfaces. Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel penned the script.
“There are so many great stars that come from WWE that we [already] have a great relationship with on the TV and movie side,” Netflix CCO Bela Bajaria told reporters during a press event. “We’re about to do a new movie with our very own John Cena. It’s a really great comedy called Little Brother. It’s him and Eric André starring together, and we’re super excited about that.”
This film results from Netflix’s new partnership with WWE, which will officially begin next month when Monday Night Raw moves to the streamer. This deal could spur more films, with more wrestlers coming to the Hollywood Netflix world.
Little Brother has not yet a planned release date.
