WWE Superstar John Cena is close to booking another comedy role, with Variety reporting that he’s in talks with Paramount Players to join Playing With Fire.
The family comedy will follow “a group of rugged wildfire fighters who meet their match when they rescue a trio of rambunctious children.”
Playing With Fire is based on a spec script by Dan Ewen, with Matt Lieberman having worked on a rewrite and Todd Garner and Sean Robins of Broken Road Productions producing.
Cena was last seen on the big screen alongside Ike Barinholtz and Leslie Mann in the comedy Blockers, and has the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee incoming in December.
He is also attached to voice a character in The Voyage of Doctor Doolittle and recently signed on to star in the action-thriller The Janson Directive which is being produced by fellow wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson.
