WWE Superstar John Cena is set to make his DC Extended Universe debut this August when he takes on the role of Peacemaker in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, and it seems that fans won’t have long to wait before we see the character back on the screen.
As revealed by THR, the eight-episode small screen spinoff series Peacemaker is set to premiere on the HBO Max streaming service in January 2022.
“I just started to get involved with the DC content in August, Peacemaker is one of the first shows I greenlit and one of the first shows coming out, in January 2022,” said HBO Max’s chief creative officer Casey Bloys. “It’s a great example of what HBO Max can do with DC content in that we’re producing at a level we haven’t seen DC content on TV do thus far.”
Peacemaker sees John Cena reuniting with his The Suicide Squad co-stars Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland, along with Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Chris Conrad (Patriot), Chukwudi Iwuji (News of the World), Lochlyn Munro (Scary Movie), Annie Chang (Shades of Blue), Christopher Heyerdahl (Van Helsing), Elizabeth Ludlow (The Walking Dead), Rizwan Manji (Schitt’s Creek) and Nhut Le (Raven’s Home).
