Yesterday it was reported that Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle is being lined up as a potential director for Daniel Craig’s 007 swansong Bond 25, and now we have some further details on the situation courtesy of Deadline.
The outlet reports that Boyle pitched an idea for “a very specific 007 movie” to producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, which impressed them enough to progress to the script stage, with Boyle’s frequent collaborator John Hodge currently hard at work hammering out a screenplay.
Hodge is expected to turn the script in within a couple of months, and if it gets the go ahead, Boyle will direct. Should the script fail to impress, the producers will then revert to their original plan, using Neal Purvis and Robert Wade’s current Bond 25 script, and finding a different director to take the reins.
