John McTiernan returning with action sci-fi Tau Ceti 4 starring Uma Thurman and Travis Fimmel

November 3, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Predator and Die Hard director John McTiernan is set to get back behind the camera for the first time since his career was derailed by legal issues, with the filmmaker enlisting Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) and Travis Fimmel (Vikings) to lead the cast of his upcoming sci-fi action film Tau Ceti 4, Screen Daily has revealed.

Written and directed by McTiernan, the film “takes place on the war-torn fourth planet in the remote Tau Ceti solar system, where three heavily armed strangers show up, size up the various oligarchs and military thugs who terrorise the place, and set about killing every single one of them.”

Tau Ceti 4 will mark McTiernan’s first movie since 2003’s Basic starring John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson, after which the filmmaker found himself prosecuted for perjury and making a false statement to the FBI stemming from an investigation into illegal wiretapping of his Rollerball producer Charles Roven. He was ultimately sentenced to a year in federal prison and declared bankrupt.
