Joker and Harley Quinn dance around the violence in new Joker: Folie À Deux trailer

July 23, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Our beloved twisted clowns of crime are back again, but this time, we see the epic love story unfold like never before.

With Todd Phillps’ Oscar-winning reinvention of the character, Joker changed the game, and its upcoming sequel, Folie À Deux, promises to keep up that legacy. By adding the notorious Harley Quinn, brought to life by Oscar and Grammy-winning singer/actress Lady Gaga, we see the infamous comic book love story in a new light.

Warner Bros.’s latest trailer, just released, teases a bit more of the story while still maintaining the film’s mysterious intrigue. We see lights, camera, and action in what could be dangerous fantasy sequences, but there’s also a bit of the Joker trial and Arkym break teased. Check it out below…

“Joker: Folie Ą Deux” finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham, awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love but also finds the music that’s always been inside him.

The new film stars Joaquin Phoenix once again in his Oscar-winning dual role as Arthur Fleck/Joker opposite Oscar-winner Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born). The film also stars Oscar nominees Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Catherine Keener (Get Out, Capote), alongside Zazie Beetz, reprising her role from Joker.

Phillips, who was nominated for Oscars for directing, writing, and producing Joker, directed Joker: Folie Ą Deux from a screenplay by fellow Oscar nominee Scott Silver & Phillips, based on characters from DC.

Joker: Folie À Deux premieres in theaters and IMAX on October 4.
